Written by the Agarwal Packers and Movers team at our Dehradun office. About us
How motorcycle and scooter transport from Dehradun works, indicative 2026 prices by route, a preparation checklist, and how it differs from car transport.
Riding a motorcycle or scooter a long way to a new city adds wear, fuel, tolls and fatigue, and on hill routes it can be risky in bad weather. Sending it by transporter is usually simpler. This guide covers how two-wheeler transport from Dehradun works, indicative 2026 prices, how to prepare your bike, and how bike transport differs from car transport.
How bike transport works
- Inspection. The bike's condition is recorded in writing with photographs: scratches, dents, mirrors, indicators, tyres and the odometer.
- Protective packing. The tank, mirrors, handlebars and painted panels are wrapped with foam, bubble wrap and stretch film.
- Loading and securing. The bike is loaded upright using a ramp and strapped so it cannot shift or touch other goods.
- Transport. On its own, with other bikes, or on the same vehicle as your household goods, depending on the job.
- Delivery and handover. The bike is unwrapped and checked against the inspection record with you.

How to prepare your bike
- Wash it so existing marks are easy to see during the inspection.
- Photograph it from the front, back and both sides, plus the tank, wheels, mirrors and odometer.
- Note existing damage such as scratches, loose mirrors, broken indicators or oil leaks, and make sure it is on the inspection report.
- Keep the tank nearly empty. A small amount of fuel for loading and unloading is enough.
- Remove loose items: helmet, phone holder, chargers, saddle bags, tool kits and removable accessories.
- Fold or loosen mirrors where possible, and tighten anything that rattles.
- Check tyre pressure and battery. Tell us if any aftermarket alarm or tracker might go off.
- Keep documents ready. Copies of the RC and insurance, and your ID, are normally needed. Keep the originals with you.
Bike vs car transport: what is different
| Factor | Bike | Car |
|---|---|---|
| Space on the carrier | Small | Large |
| Loading | Upright, by ramp, strapped | Driven or winched onto a car carrier |
| Carrier options | Bike carrier, shared load, or with household goods | Open car carrier as standard, enclosed on request |
| Packing | Wrapped with foam and film | Usually not wrapped; inspection report matters most |
| Typical cost | Lower | Higher |
If you are moving a car and a bike together, they can be booked on one job and coordinated to the same schedule, though they may not travel on the same vehicle. For car prices, see car transport costs from Dehradun.
Insurance and delivery checks
Transit insurance for the bike can be arranged and is quoted separately, based on its declared value. At delivery, check the bike against the inspection report before you sign. Note any new damage on the delivery document and photograph it straight away.
