Storage inventory and release checklist

A storage hold needs an inventory, clear charging terms and a release plan. Our storage guidance concerns Dehradun; an onward destination is not a claim that there is a warehouse in that city.

1. Create a photographed inventoryNumber packed items and record condition before storage so release can be checked against the same list.
2. Separate items you may needKeep documents, valuables, medicines and daily-use belongings outside the stored load.
3. Clean and dry everythingDry appliances, fabrics and furniture before packing; trapped moisture is easier to prevent than discover later.
4. Declare sensitive or restricted goodsAsk about acceptance of batteries and unusual items. Do not include food, perishables or undeclared hazardous materials.
5. Agree rent and handling chargesConfirm the minimum period, extension charges, inbound handling, retrieval and onward transport separately.
6. Confirm actual storage facilitiesAsk about access arrangements, protection and cover. Do not assume climate control or unlimited retrieval access.
7. Nominate who can authorise releaseRecord the authorised contact and any identification or payment requirements before goods enter storage.
8. Book onward dispatch after readinessConfirm possession, release notice and vehicle availability before setting the receiving date.
9. Check the release inventoryMatch items and condition to the stored list, record exceptions and retain storage and transport paperwork.
