Free moving survey preparation checklist

Give the surveyor enough information to price the complete job. A good survey records what moves, how it is handled and how a vehicle reaches each entrance.

1. Send the complete addressesProvide pickup and delivery pins, locality, floor and a working contact at both ends.
2. Show every room and storage areaInclude loft contents, balcony goods, garage items and anything already in cartons so the inventory is complete.
3. Measure unusually large furnitureShow dismantling points and dimensions for pieces that may not fit through doors or stairs.
4. Record an access videoShow the route from parking to the entrance, including steps, lift openings and tight turns.
5. Declare fragile and high-value itemsDiscuss acceptance, packing and any cover before choosing materials or agreeing the price.
6. List vehicles separatelyGive make, model, engine capacity, quantity and running condition. A car or bike is not part of a BHK carton estimate.
7. Explain date constraintsState possession dates, lift bookings and any storage gap. Ask what flexibility is needed if access or dispatch changes.
8. Assign dismantling and installationConfirm which jobs the movers undertake and which need your own electrician, plumber or technician.
9. Request the written scopeKeep the inventory, inclusions, exclusions, taxes, payment terms and delivery window together before booking.
